About Scioto Country Club

Scioto Country Club from its inception has always been an important part of the history of Upper Arlington and the city of Columbus. Opening in 1916 as a centerpiece of Upper Arlington, the Club is the focal point of a community that is one of the finest in the country. As James Hamill, one of the founding members stated at the Club’s opening, "Our Club, in time, will become one of the most important social centers of the community, and will constitute one of the show places of the city”. Today it stands as a pillar of the Upper Arlington Community, an important gathering place for family and friends, and a treasured part of the history of central Ohio.

Championship History at Scioto Country Club

Few courses in American golf carry a championship pedigree as deep as Scioto Country Club. Since opening in 1916, the Columbus, Ohio classic — designed by Donald Ross — has hosted seven national championships across a full century, cementing its place among the country's most storied venues.
1926 U.S. Open
Winner: Bobby Jones (amateur) Score: 293 (+5), played to a par of 72
Jones, playing as an amateur, edged Joe Turnesa by one stroke.
1931 Ryder Cup
Result: United States defeated Great Britain, 9–3. The American team was captained by Walter Hagen.
1950 PGA Championship
Winner: Chandler Harper Result: Defeated Henry Williams Jr., 4 and 3
1968 U.S. Amateur
Winner: Bruce Fleisher. Score: 284 (+4), played to a par of 70, beat Vinny Giles by 1 stroke.
1986 U.S. Senior Open
Winner: Dale Douglass Score: 279 (-5), played to a par of 71, one stroke ahead of runner-up Gary Player
2016 U.S. Senior Open
Winner: Gene Sauers. Score: 277 (-3), played to a par of 70, beat Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Billy Mayfair by 1 stroke.
2026 U.S. Senior Open
Winner: Padraig Harrington. Score: 268 (-12), played to a par of 70, finished four strokes ahead of runner-up Stewart Cink.
